When you have problems to apply this or any other visual-style, you have to patch the uxtheme.dll before you can use any. There are several tools to prevent WindowsXP to prove if the visual-style is digital signed by Microsoft.

patch the uxtheme.dll with Neowin UXTheme Multipatcher V2.5.1 (by WindowsX, orginal sources Vorte[x])
if this tool doesn't works there is one the Theme MultiPatcher 3.04 (german language) this should always works
download the patched uxtheme.dll files here

StyleXP from TGTSoft (Shareware)
or change it with a hex-editor like 010 Editor - Hex Editor (from SweetScape )

The visual-style and logons based on Service-Pack 2 sources, you may have to install Service-Pack 2 to use them!

INSTALL

1. Download BootSkin (freeware) from http://www.bootskin.com/ and install.
2. Just doubleclick the CoolXP 4 <color> (.bootskin) and it appears in BootSkin, select and apply it.

To use a visual-style you have to patch uxtheme.dll with the Patcher

( Neowin UXTheme Multipatcher V2.5.1 by WindowsX, orginal sources Vorte[x]),

use StyleXP from TGTSoft

or do this with the 010 Editor - Hex Editor (from SweetScape ).

* uxtheme.dl_ (for WindowsXP install CD with SP1 or SP2) is a cab file that contains a patched uxtheme.dll with modified CRC header so Windows XP Setup will no longer attempt to abort the file copy.
