TRIO TALISMAN

Talisman  Biography

By good fortune, two musicians met at a concert by the Russian gypsy band "Loyko" in Augsburg. When they met, each was so enthused by the other's style and talent, that they were convinced they could create a mixture of the best of their music: gypsy, classical, jazz, rock, flamenco, oriental and avant-garde styles combined to form a veritable musician storm. Although they had only just been formed, "Talisman" performed successfully at the Danube festival in summer 2000 in Ulm. When the duo performed at the world-famous Wintergarten in Berlin, they met the third member of their group, the breathtaking musician, accordion player, Oleg Nehls. By 2001 the trio Talisman were performing successfully in England and France.

Vadim Kulitski Guitar & Vocals

Born in Siberia in 1965, he brings with him a touch of wild Siberian music. He was trained as a classical guitarist at music school and at the famous Music Academy in Moscow. Vadim was a member of the Russian gypsy band Loyko for 8 years. He played all over the world with them and made several appearances on TV and radio. He has worked with many important artistes such as Ravi Shankar, Subramanian, Blanka del Ray, Gideon Kremer and has played soundtracks for various films. He has also worked with Andre Heller on the show "Magneten". And last but not least, he played for President George Bush in Moscow. Vadim composes his own music and plays all over the world as a solo guitarist.

Olekxander Klimas - Violin

Born in the Ukraine in 1975, in a musical family. He began to play the violin when he was only 7. Olekxander graduated from the Kirovograd Music School in the Ukraine where he studied classical violin, going on to play in the Kirovograd Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. For two years he was a member of the Gypsy Folk group "Ziganskie Napewy" taking part in their successful European tour. After this, Olekxander began to study at the Leopold Mozart academy of music in Augsburg. He played folk and jazz music in various groups whilst also exploring Latin American and oriental styles. For two years he performed pieces written and arranged by himself with the duo "Polaris", combining all these musical influences.

Oleg Nehls - Accordion

Bom in 1957. He attended the Music School for Gifted Children at the St. Petersburg academy and received his classical education at the Rimski-Korsakow Academy in St Petersburg. He was one of the first students of classical accordion. Oleg has had many years' experience performing alone or as part of various musical groups. He was a solo player with the Irkutsk and Krasnojarsk Philharmonic for eight years. He then worked with the Russian military song and dance group in Eberswalde-Finow. Oleg worked as a concert musician and music teacher in Moscow. He has been living and working in Berlin since 1995. There he plays with various groups, including the trio "Petersburg" and the group "Folkinger". He eventually met Vadim and  Olekxander Klimas in the winter of 2000/2001.
